Free Kansas State Fishing Lakes

Boondocking at Atchison County State Fishing Lake

Boondocking at Atchison County State Fishing Lake

Although we live in Missouri, north of Kansas City, we love to go boondocking in Kansas. Nearly every county has at least one free fishing lake, with maybe one restroom and a water faucet somewhere. All the lakes we've camped at have rock jetties from the shore right out into the lakes on which to camp, build a fire, and fish.

Love being right at the water's edge. I can read, walk the dog, and take photographs while husband fishes or goes metal detecting.

Although most of these lake are within 20-30 miles of a town, we seldom even have cell phone service. But we ALWAYS have beautiful scenery around the clock of the various lakes.

I've put up some of my favorite photos of our various camping trips at www.CasitaEscapes.blogspot.com . Clicking on any photo will take you to the Picasa photo album with more photos.
