Why Only Ebooks?

The Frugal Shunpiker's Guides are only sold as ebooks. Because they're not printed, there's no shipping charge and I can easily send you a free replacement if you lose the file.

What is an Ebook?

An ebook is an electronic file, a digital edition of a book-length publication. Upon purchase of your Frugal Shunpiker's Guide, you'll be sent a link to download and save the file on your computer. Choose (or create) a folder on your computer to save it in so you'll remember where it is. Now you can access and read the ebook on your computer anytime, anywhere. You won't require an Internet connection to read it.

What Type of File is it?

The guides are sent as a PDF file - a very common document format. Almost all computers these days come with a PDF reader, a program that can read a PDF file. If you cannot open the file, it's possible you may need to download a reader. Two excellent, well known, dependable, and FREE readers are Foxit Reader and Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you already have one of these but it's not reading the file, you may need to download their latest version. Personally, I prefer Foxit but Adobe works just fine in most cases.

But I Don't Travel with a Computer - How can I Read an Ebook on the Road?

If you have a smart phone or tablet of any type, you can have the guides at your fingertips at all times, even when you have no Internet connection. Just follow these simple steps to add the ebooks to your device:

Read it on Your iPhone or iPad

  • Download the guide on your computer.
  • Install the free iBooks app on your iPhone or iPad. (Most iPhones now come with it already installed.)
  • Email the PDF to yourself as an attachment.
  • View the PDF on your iPhone's browser.
  • Click the Save to iBooks button.
  • The file is now available (on your bookshelf) for offline reading anytime.

Read it on Your Android Smart Phone or Tablet

On an Android device, it's even simpler.

  • Download the guide on your computer.
  • Email the PDF to yourself as an attachment.
  • Click on the link to the PDF on your phone or tablet.
  • It will download into a "downloads" folder that you'll have access to offline.

The Guides are Copyrighted. Can I Print Them?

You own the guide. Of course you may print a copy for your own use - either on your own printer or at a print shop such as Staples (they will charge per page). Tip: Printing in black and white is generally less than half the cost of color. The easiest way to take the file to a print shop is to transfer it to a USB thumb drive. If the print shop requests consent from the author, simply show them your proof of purchase or contact me; I'm happy to send my permission.

Can I read it on my Ereader?

The most popular readers, Kindle, Nook, Kobo, and Sony Reader, require various file formats to render properly. At the moment, I'm unable to offer a selection of formats to suit every requirement. The PDF is still the most common and widely accepted format and it works well on all devices (whether PC or Mac) except for ebook readers. While you can try, I cannot guarantee that the Frugal Shunpikers Guide ebooks will load or display correctly on your ebook reader. Some clients have reported success and others have managed to convert the PDF file into a suitable format using a free file converter such as Calibre.

If you have any questions or problems, please contact me. I'm always happy to help.
