QMarianne and Randy we enjoyed reading your travels to Costa Rica. I have always wanted to go there. However, we wondered how come your medical insurance was so low compared to when we go to the US. Perhaps, you two do not have many medical issues. Perhaps, also because of age. My husband is 84 and I am 70.
Anyways, very interesting reading and informative.
Claus and I (Catherine) have a Roadtrek also. We have been retired and have travelled 425,000 km in 23 years since retirement. Most U.S. Mexico, Baja and Alaska, Arizona and southern California. We have enjoyed RV very much. 99% of our travels were mostly boondocking. We love Arizona and southern Calif.
Best wishes and continued travels

A Hi Claus And Catherine,
Glad you enjoyed reading about that trip. We're currently plotting our next one- planning to go back to California in the RV in 2017 for about 6 months and will try an RV trip in Canada later this summer. Not sure exactly which direction yet.
As for the health insurance. Yes, we're lucky that we still qualify for the best rates. I'm 64 and Randy turned 65 this year. But we also had a Royal Bank credit card that covered us for three weeks so the cost you see listed in our expenses is only the top-up for the other 5 weeks (we were away for a total of 8 weeks). Hope that helps explain why it was so low.
