Getting Ready for the Gypsy Life

What a wonderful website. I have spent the last 4 hours reading everything, taking notes and getting excited for my next adventure. I have finally convinced my hubby to honor my #1 bucket list item...spending a year (or more if I am lucky!!!) touring this wonderful country.

We are going to start out with a trailer due to the cost of RVs. We have an F150 pickup that my husband loves and can easily tow a trailer. If we decide this is the lifestyle, we will upgrade.

We are hoping to be Workampers to add to our income monthly. I also want to be a boondocker and see how frugal we can be.

Our plan is to be ready to go July 1. I hope I will have a new story for you in Aug or Sept.

Thank you so much for all the good tips and info. This is the best website I have found yet.

ON MY BUCKET LIST
by: Anonymous

I too have had that on my bucketlist since I was 12 years old.My aunt and her husband and 2 kids had come to visit us as they were traveling around the country , canada and mexico for one year . they did not have a camper but were traveling in a station wagon . That was 1957 . SINCE THEN THE DREAM HAD STARTED FOR ME . For years I stood at the pier watching my Navy husband get on a ship and travel the 7 seas while i stayed home and diapered 2 kids . I did go see him 3 times for R&R in the Phillipines and Hong Kong .When he retired he took me to Europe on military flights and it was quite and adventure .For the last 25 years the dream still wanted to be finished by fullfilling the dream of spending ayear traveling to see our own country ( before obama leaves us with out one )We are planning to buy a Casita 17ft Spirit Deluxe TRAILER . We too have a 2012 Ford F-150 . NEXT MONTH WE WILL BE ATTENDING THE BLUEBONNET RALLY in BANDERA TEXAS even though we do not have our Casita yet but will use the trip to learn all we can . i urge you to check out the Caita website and go to the forum to ask questions and meet some great people . Maybe someday we will meet down the road .

Ready to go by July 6th !!
by: Charlotte

Brenda, how exciting!!! We have a target date of July 6th to go full time on our motor home. Are you leaving a house behind to come back to or getting rid of everything? We are selling the house and distributing everything else to the kids. Our plan is to move onto the motor home the first on June for a month of transition while my husband finishes his last month of work. Spend that time to empty the house out and put it on the market. And be ready to go on July 6th. It's exciting and emotional. Yesterday I did my spring cleanup and pruning in the yard and realized it would be my last spring in my garden. I was sad yet so excited at the same time. We've been planning this for a long time. I can't believe we are so close to the "Gypsy Life".

Good luck with your new adventure!
