Q. What is the GST/Duty to import from the US into Canada?

Marianne's Reply: The tax (PST plus GST or HST) will be at the current rate in your province of residence. There is also a one-time import fee of just over $200.00 but not any additional duty.
In some states, you will have to pay the state tax as well and it seems this is not refundable although, in some states, you may be able to avoid paying it if you can prove you're importing.

You can check with the Dept of Motor Vehicles Bureau (DMV) for the state you are buying in to find out whether and how much you'll pay in state tax.
