Here's What I Noticed First

by Marcie Burley
(Novato, California)

On our first day in our first RV park, the first thing I noticed was that all motorhomes have names like Phaeton and Wayfarer and Discovery and all fifth wheels have names like Cyclone and Raptor and Outlaw. This was the also the first day I felt like an Old Fart. Geez, I felt like it was really brave of us to sell up everything and move into our motorhome fulltime and now I find out that we’re the weenies of the park! We might as well just walk around in sandals and black socks…

Do you suppose it’s because we Motor “Homers” are pulling our Hondas and Minis behind us and the fifth wheels are all being pulled by monster trucks up front and center? So the monster trucks are acting and the Honda’s are being acted upon. We’re nouns and they’re verbs. Sigh. Does this bug anybody else or do I just have an overdeveloped sense of insecurity??

Different Strokes for different folks

Most of the 5'ers you listed are "Toyhaulers". 5th wheel trailers that have a garage in the last 10-14 feet in which "toys" are stored. These include Motorcycles, 4 wheelers, golf carts etc. That is the reason for the aggressive names.

Personality styles
by: Anonymous

When you travel, dont compare yourself and your preferences to others preferences. Some people love loud, large toys, such as speed boats; whereas some people would rather a kayak in a quiet stream. This has nothing to do with who's better than another. It's only a matter of personality style.
