How did you do that many days for that price?

What is included in the price? Do you have a list of all your expenses for the entire trip? I am planning a 7 month car camping trip to the western National Parks of the USA and Canada. Do you think I could leave my equipment inside my tent in a dispersed camping environment in a National Forest, go to the adjoining National Park and have my stuff still be there? Thanks.

Boondocking is the key

We seek out free overnight parking as often as we can. We're in an RV so we have a lot more choices than you will in a tent. We can utilize membership sites like Boondockers Welcome, Harvest Hosts, But all of these require you to be traveling in a self-contained RV.

At the end of each blog the total camping costs are posted. I post a full expense summary for each of our extended trips here -
- usually don't get that done until a month or two after we get home. This trip (2017) we expect to be back by early July.

As far as dispersed camping on BLM and National Forest lands - there's plenty of it in the southwestern states and usually you're fine in a tent. I am thinking you are bicycle/tenting, am I right? Otherwise I cannot imagine why you would want to leave your tent set up while you go somewhere else. There are not designated numbered campsites so there's no need to "save" your site until you come back. RVers leave their trailer set up all the time while they hike or go on a day trip and very rarely do you hear of any problems so I can't see why a tent should be a big difference but I have no experience with it. Of course, don't leave valuables or food behind (due to animals).

Hope that helps a bit.
