We have been RVing since 1998. That's a long time in RVing years. We love it and you couldn't get either of us back into a ~real house~ if you tried :)

That said, we do take some levels of personal precaution regarding our personal safety. One very simple and almost always legal device to keep at the ready is a Flare Gun.
Yes, a Flare Gun! No special permits are required for one. It falls outside of the carry-laws and is generally agreed to be something that is wise to carry as a signal for if or when you get lost. BUT it ALSO is a powerful deterrent to any human or wildlife that seeks out you to be their target! Think about it for a minute... Would you be deterred if someone pointed a fire-throwing gun your way?! I should would be! So, this is a good thumbs-up on keeping a legal personal weapon at your ready.

As always, do your own research on the subject. Information and laws change often, so recent info is always key to being and staying on the correct side of the legal system.

Safe And Happy Camping To Everyone! Life Is Good, But Camping Makes It GREAT :)

Flare Guns in Canada
by: Marianne

The question is answered on the FAQ page of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police web site.
I would think this means that carrying one in your vehicle may be okay but on your person could be deemed illegal.
