Ability equiped RVs
by: KB

Winnebago makes "ability equiped" motorhomes. The words in quotes are one that you can paste into your browser to locate more information on these units.

As far as minor aging disability you really do need to get more specific about what your exact issues are. There are many things that can be done to improve issues such as entering an RV such as comfortable height steps, putting in a fold down ramp so there are no steps, installing grab bars by the door that are nice and large to hang onto. I put one of those in along with backer boards on the interior to secure through bolts to make sure the RV could handle the pull on the grab bars.

1 disabled senior motorhome

Thanks a million Marianne for your swift follow up. Great blog! I definitely would like to stick with a compact motorhome, and "not" an RV to pull. Apart from possibly recent safety features on the vehicle itself, a nice bed and bathroom with separate shower would be great. Whatever advice you or your followers might think about, is more than welcome... because I have a lot to learn, and would like to be able to narrow things down a bit, in this rather large/varied market. I also welcome offers of possible appropriate second hand motorhomes. Again, THANKS and All the Best, gerard.

accessible RVs
by: Marianne

I would imagine that you're trying to avoid tall steps and possibly less steps is better. So I can suggest you rule out all Truck Campers and, perhaps, fifth wheels (require indoor steps as well as entry steps).

I would suggest you go to a few RV shows to see various models and compare which best suit your needs.

There are also devices for helping you handle the entry steps. Here's info on one: https://www.rv-co.com/index.html

And there are also fully wheelchair accessible RVs but I'm sure they're quite costly. http://www.fraserway.com/rentals/vehicles/wheelchair-accessible-motorhome

That's all I know from my limited experience but, perhaps some readers will chime in with more help.
